Internet Connectivity & Media Server Connectivity

Internet Connectivity & Media Server Connectivity

Here's a standard troubleshooting checklist for when a computer or tablet can't connect to the Vū Studio hosted web application or when Vū Studio cannot connect to the Vū Media Server.

In general, there are certain ports/protocols and URLs that must be open and accessible to both the Vū Media Server and any devices within that same network trying to connect to the media server. A list of those ports and protocols can be found - HERE

Internet Connectivity | Trouble connecting to https://one.vu.studio from the Kiosk or issues with the Media Server showing No internet connection.

  • From the device, open a web browser and try to open another website (e.g., google.com). If you cannot connect to google.com, then you have a general internet connection problem.
    • To determine if it is the device:
      • Try connecting the device to a different wifi network
        • If this does not work, the device may have an issue
        • Try restarting the device and then trying the connection again
      • If you do not have another network to try, try connecting a different device to your same Wifi network.
        • If this does not work, it is likely a wifi network issue
        • Try restarting the router/modem: Especially if multiple devices are affected.

Media Server Connectivity | Trouble connecting to the Media Server from within Vū Studio.

  • If Internet access has been verified, click on the settings gear icon in the top right corner of Vū Studio, verify the media server ID is correct, and matches the system you are connecting to.
  • Press the refresh button on the browser to reload the web page to see if the connection light in Vū Studio turns green. If it does, the name of your account should appear at the bottom right corner of the media server display.
  • If there is no connection and the light is flashing Yellow or displaying as Red, there is a connection issue.
    • Click the gear icon again, verify the media server ID, then press the Restart Media Server button and answer Yes when prompted to confirm. If the Media Server Software shuts down and restarts successfully, try connecting again by refreshing the browser tab.
    • If the Media Server Software does not restart when clicking the Restart button, use a Keyboard connected to the system to:
      • Press the Start button so the Windows menu appears
      • Use the Mouse to right click on the  Vū Studio icon and select the Close Window option.
      • Once closed, click on the Vū Studio icon to restart the software.
      • Once the software restarts, refresh the browser tab to try to connect again.
